Devotees who arranged annual poojas in early ‘70s at Ahmedabad felt the need for a temple dedicated to Lord Shri Ayyappa here. Thus this Unit under the banner of Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangham (Regd.) came into existance and it was registered on 21.09.1978 as a Religious and Charitable Trust, with an asset of just Rs. 7.50 being the balance of that annual pooja. Simply put, aims of the Trust then were (i) to provide the devotees here a serene place to offer prayers, (ii) provide food to the poor and the extent possible and (iii) to help the poor and needy in getting education and medical aid. Land was provided at Vasna by a devotee at nominal cost and foundation stone for the temple was laid by H.H. Kanchi Kamakoti Peethadheeshwar Jagadguru Sankaracharya on 24.09.1980. Daily Poojas to Lord Shri Ayyappa were arranged in a temporary structure since 17.11.1983. On 14.01.1984, a Daily Pooja Deposit Account (DPDA) was established for expenses of the temple.
